Bay Window Replacement Cost

A general guide to the cost of bay window replacement

Traditional Bay Window Replacement Cost

In all of my years of being in the Window Replacement business, twenty six years to be exact, the traditional bay window has probably had the most impact of any window. The unique design of the bay window adds increased value to your home and will immediately increase your home’s financial equity. You can figure on average, the cost of a bay window will be between $4,500-$6,500, depending on the size of your window opening. The labor to increase the length or width of the opening will add approximately another $1,500.

Through the years, many of our customers have requested the installation of their bay window in the front of the home due to curb appeal. We’ve also had other customers put a traditional bay window in the back, especially if they want to emphasize a nice view. Many customers will choose a garden bay, especially in the kitchen. Plants and other decorative items can be placed on optional shelving for visual pleasure. You can figure between $2,500-$3,500 for a garden bay, which includes the option of shelves that can be built in the window.

What other features does a bay window give you?

The traditional or garden bay window opens up a room tremendously by providing more natural light. Depth perception is also increased when looking out these windows and can change the sense of space to a room. Many of our customers comment on the positive addition of this feature. Ventilation is also increased throughout the room space and also gives the customer the option of increased seating with the popular window seat feature.

What are your options for a traditional bay?

A traditional bay window consists of three windows that work together as a single unit. The middle part of the window (Picture Window) is about 50% of the window. The right and left side of the window are where ventilation occurs. Single or Double Hung Windows are available and a full casement/crank out window will provide the most ventilation. The traditional Casement Bay will cost between $5,500-$7,500 on the size. The details and options of this window make it the most expensive bay in the marketplace. All traditional bay windows can be built and set for 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees. Keep in mind, choosing a bay window may be the most expensive window you purchase, but the benefits from the inside out make it a valuable investment in your home.
