Cheyenne Window Replacement

Cheyenne Wyoming

Cheyenne, Wyoming has cold and snowy winters. From December to February, temperatures can drop well below freezing, with average lows ranging from the single digits to the teens Fahrenheit. Cold weather can have a significant impact on windows, especially if they are old or poorly insulated. When the temperature drops, windows can develop drafts, which can lead to heat loss and higher energy bills. In extreme cases, the cold air can even cause the glass to crack or break. To combat these issues, homeowners may want to consider upgrading their windows to newer, more energy-efficient models that are designed to withstand cold weather. You can also upgrade and include Argon gas for these two glass packages as well,  this will improve your overall insulation value.  This will add to your cost at a pretty minimal expense.

Cheyenne Window Replacement

If you’re a homeowner in Cheyenne, Wyoming, you may need to consider window replacement at some point. The harsh weather conditions in the area can take a toll on your windows, leading to drafts, leaks, and reduced energy efficiency. Window replacement can help to improve your home’s insulation, reduce your energy bills, and enhance its overall appearance. When choosing replacement windows in Cheyenne, you should consider factors such as the local climate, the size and style of your home, and your budget. It’s important to work with a reputable window replacement company that can provide expert advice and professional installation services to ensure that your new windows are a perfect fit for your home.

Growing up in the state of Wyoming as a young man, I know all too well how the wind can whip up pretty quickly. Now having lived in Northern Colorado for the past 25 years, weather patterns have changed nationally and winds in this area can also be intense and unpredictable. At 3 bidz Windows and Patio Doors, we have made it our focus to be educated on what are the best products to handle the weather in Laramie County (WY), as well as, all of Weld, Larimer and Boulder Counties. We provide various products so our customers can find and afford the right window for them.

In considering this decision, the main components of a quality window for this area and climate have been broken down by category.

Window Replacement Considerations

Seals

The Casement (Crank Out) Window is an excellent option for getting the best seal with a window. Many customers also prefer the design for their interior and exterior look. The Casement option will add 25%-40% to the cost. Another option for better seal is a single slider or Hung Window. Less air infiltration will get through this style of window, as only one side opens and the other side is fixed and cannot open. The Hung Window is the more economical window if you are on a tighter budget.

As I am approaching 25 years in the business, I have had many customers comment on these two series of windows. Positive observations have included better insulation, noise reduction and less wind infiltration. This is especially important for homeowners who live in open spaces, those who live by a major road or highway or even just living next to a barking dog.

Frames

As for the frame of a window, in our region it is best to go with a Virgin Vinyl Frame or Fiberglass. A Virgin Vinyl Frame is a little more expensive than a recycled vinyl frame, but a recycled frame will fade, crack or warp in our region and elevation. Considering all the sunshine, change of weather and possible hailstorms, Virgin Vinyl frames do not crack, fade or warp in our climate. Fiberglass frames are another compatible option. Unlike Vinyl, Fiberglass costs about 40% more, but has the option of being painted.

These two frame choices will withstand the variety of weather conditions found in this region, especially major hail, snow or rain storms. These frames are also best for strong winds, which is important to many of our customers.

Glass

In all my years of being in the window and patio door business, the glass packages continue to improve with technology. It is important to note that all manufacturers in the United States use the same glass vendor, Cardinal Glass Industries. Some companies may try to separate themselves from competition by selling you a private label glass package. 3BIDZ believes in being transparent and we recommend the two most sold Cardinal Glass packages sold in the United States. The two packages we suggest for this region are Low E270 glass or Low-E366 glass. We feel either of these two double pane packages will serve you well.

Triple Pane Glass is also available, but we do not feel it is necessary for this region and is an extra expense you don’t need. You may want to discuss Triple Pane Glass with our team if you live in the mountains and experience high winds on a consistent basis.
